CrossFit Trainer and Marketing Manager Ian Lauth Hometown: Seattle, Washington
Started CrossFit in 2008

Ian has always been dedicated to athletics and staying fit. While attending the University of Washington, he found himself going to the gym regularly to "Frat Lift" as he humorously calls it – essentially sticking to Back & Bi's, Chest & Tri's, and doing "loads of crunches."

"I was so top-heavy," Ian recalls, "I was only working out specific parts of my upper body and I neglected my legs and core almost entirely." While he admits it was primarily to look good for the ladies with his shirt off, he knew in his gut he was forsaking many aspects of his overall fitness. "I didn't really have any idea what I was doing in the gym… I would just watch other people and try out the workouts they were doing without worrying whether it was proper form or not. I sort of just pieced my workouts together from stuff I heard here and there."

"When I found CrossFit, it completely opened my eyes," Ian remembers, "I realized that everything I'd been doing in the gym up until that point not only lacked efficiency, but it didn't contribute to my overall health and fitness. Here was a place that provided the kind of programming, camaraderie and motivation I needed to get in the kind of shape I wanted. All I had to do was get my butt through the door and the rest was taken care of." Asked whether or not he looks better now with his shirt off than he did in college, Ian laughs, "That's for the ladies to decide."

Alaide first found CrossFit when attending UC Riverside and working with Josh Everett. A long time competitive soccer player, Alaide quickly experienced the benefits of both the strength and metcon programs and how it improved her soccer game. CrossFit has brought another element of training into her life and allows her to introduce a competitive drive and be healthy to those who haven’t had a chance to experience that in their life or for those who have; CrossFit is an avenue to channel all that energy into.

Alaide earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University. While attending SDSU, she works as a Strength and Conditioning intern working with women’s soccer and men’s rugby. Upon completion of her degree, she continued to work with athletes from a variety of sports in different settings, including an internship with Athletes’ Performance in Carson, CA, followed by an internship with the LA Galaxy, a Major League Soccer team, for the 2010 season. She has also worked at Velocity Sport Performance in Redondo Beach, CA where she worked with athletes ranging from elementary school age to the professional level.

Alaide has earned certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Alaide is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science from California State Long Beach.

Alexa is a runner at heart and has always focused on staying in tip top shape. "Before I started doing Crossfit, I thought that I was in really good shape," She says, "I had competed in several marathons and ultra marathons. However, I realized quickly how imbalanced my training was. I was really only conditioned to run and that was about it. My strength was lacking and the short, high intensity met-con workouts would destroy me. Crossfit was definitely a challenge when I first started (and still is!), but I caught onto the movements fairly quickly and fell in love with it immediately."

Alexa also focuses a lot on her diet. "I try and stick to a paleo diet as much as I can. It has taken me a few months to get all the 'bad' carbs out of my diet, but I realize I do feel much better without them. I don't follow the Zone 'block' system, but instead make sure I have a balanced amount of protein, carbs and fat in each meal. I eat a ton of fish, chicken, eggs, nuts, nut butters, avocado, veggies and fruit. I do like to cheat with some red wine every once in a while."

Brandon Ferragut Hometown: Orange County, CA
Started CrossFit in 2010

Brandon first heard about CrossFit through a family friend who was a Recon Marine. His friend told him that CrossFit was the most beneficial training he had ever done for the line of work he was a part of. At that moment Brandon knew he had to try it. Some time passed and then another close friend of his began doing CrossFit and fell in love with it. Over Christmas break in 2010, Brandon decided to tag along with him when he dropped in for a workout at CrossFit Anaerobic. The rest, as they say, is history.

“I feel like I am a much stronger, healthier, and more efficient athlete and human being on the whole because of CrossFit.” Brandon says, “I feel the best I ever have in my entire life and that feeling continues to grow exponentially on a daily basis.”

Brandon doesn’t hesitate to tell anyone who will listen how much he absolutely loves each and every day he walk in the gym, whether its to work out, coach, clean, or just to hang out with all the amazing people.

“Every single person at CrossFit Anaerobic is a huge blessing to my life and seeing everyone never gets old. I never expected to become a part of such an awesome family and communtiy of athletes.”

Kevin was first introduced to Crossfit in February of 2011. Prior to that he was doing the typical gym routine mixing in running and legs whenever he though appropriate. Crossfit has quickly become Kevin’s sole-mate workout as he saw more results in a month then he did an entire year at a main stream gym.

“My favorite part about Crossfit is that its constantly varied. I haven’t done the same workout twice and look forward to waking up each morning to see what the WOD will be. My body is always kept guessing and all I have to do is show up.”

Kevin has enjoyed many benefits of incorporating Crossfit into his daily life including a focus and drive that no other fitness routine could give. He has enjoyed the community of like minded people who encourage each other and push themselves to the limit.
