Tell us about you sports & fitness background: I played sports but was never an athlete. I have no coordination. I worked out at ‘the gym’ throughout my 20’s. After having kids, I was ‘too busy’ and didn’t go to the gym for most of my 30’s. Then I was diagnosed with a brain tumor (benign, but caused seizures). I became pretty incapacitated by the amount of anti-seizure drugs I was taking and they weren’t even working. I continued to seize. Radiation (Gamma Knife) killed the tumor but swelled my brain to a point where my seizures got more intense and left me unable to use my left leg and arm. Low point. Surgery removed the tumor and I had to begin rehabbing my body. It was the beginning of what I knew… Read More
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I first heard of CrossFit on a photographer’s blog that I follow. She started doing CF late 2010 and that was when I began my nightly searches about CrossFit, eager to learn more. I was hesitant to try it out and intimidated by the unknown. It is always easier to stay in your comfort zone. My husband was… Read More

First start at CF Anaerobic? January 2012, after the open house
Favorite WOD: Angie
Least Favorite WOD: I don’t have one. Call me a sadistic, but I look forward to each one. I enjoy doing workouts with movements I am less proficient in. How else can I improve?
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Insomnia… no kidding. I couldn’t fall asleep so I turned on the TV and switched to ESPN 2. Always something entertaining on at 2 am on ESPN 2 right? Wouldn’t you know it was the CrossFit games. I was so impressed with all of the people competing, but was even more impressed by the people watching….. Read More
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? Look at the picture…I’m leaner, less fat and more muscle. CF is the means but the Paleo Diet is the key element for success. Seriously, you can CF 6 days a week, but if you’re not eating right, you won’t get the results. I can’t say that enough…showing up for an hour to work out is very easy compared to maintaining discipline in what you put in your body. If you are going to try ANY work out regiment, diet is the most important thing. I have done every single diet you can imagine, Atkins, South beach, hell I even ate Cabbage Soup for a week…that was terrible! All are set up for failure. I needed to find a lifestyle that allowed me to stay healthy. Paleo has been the best thing I have found, I highly recommend it….Read More

First start at CF Anaerobic? I signed up Feburary 2011 but not going consistent until April 2011
Favorite WOD: I know it sounds crazy but I love when they incorporate runs into the workouts… And I love dead lifts
Least Favorite WOD: I can’t stand snatches!
Tell us about you sports & fitness background: I was very active when I was in High school but after my two kids I gained a lot of weight and stopped working out.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I saw the sign on Santa Margarita and had heard people talking about CrossFit before so I thought I would try it.
Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? I cant remember what it was but I thought I was going to die and I remember telling my coach “I feel like I am on the biggest loser”.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? I have had so many changes it has been amazing. Along with CrossFit I started eating Paleo and have lost 46lbs! I have gone from a size 16 to a size 8. I feel amazing and just the other day I pushed my two year old for a 6.5 mile run. I could hardly make the 800m run when I began CrossFit. I feel so much stronger and healthier. Thank you CrossFit!!! …Read More
